Privacy policy

Summary

FamilyVault does not collect any personal data. There is no server operated by the provider to which content is transferred. All scans, text recognition and analysis take place on your device. Syncing between your devices runs exclusively through your own iCloud account.

What data the app stores

• The content you capture: scan images, recognised text, fields such as issuer, date, amount, deadlines, expiry dates, tags and notes.
• App settings such as the reminder time, active reminder types and the Face ID lock.

This data is kept in a local database on the device and — if iCloud is enabled — additionally in the private CloudKit database of your Apple account. The provider of the app has no access to this database.

Artificial intelligence

Text recognition uses Apple’s Vision framework, field extraction uses Apple’s Foundation Models (Apple Intelligence). Both run on-device. No content is sent to cloud AI services such as OpenAI, Google or Anthropic. If Apple Intelligence is not available on the device, a purely rule-based extractor takes over — also locally.

Camera

The live viewfinder for food continuously analyses the camera image on the device to show the best-before date and barcode. Only the photo you take yourself and the text recognised from it are stored; the ongoing preview frames are not kept and never leave the device. Imported photos are likewise processed locally only.

Notifications

Reminders are local notifications that the app schedules in advance on the device. Nothing is sent through a push service of the provider.

Tracking and analytics

The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising or crash-reporting SDKs and uses no advertising identifiers. There are no user accounts and no sign-up.

This website

This website sets no cookies and embeds no trackers. Fonts are served locally from this website; no connection is made to Google Fonts or other third parties. When you visit, the hosting provider may record server-side access logs.

Your rights

Since the provider does not process any personal data, there is nothing the provider could disclose or delete. You delete your content directly in the app; you remove the iCloud copy in addition through the iOS settings of your Apple account.
